Please note that many links and information are not up to date with 2018 information as yet. Keep checking back for updates. Here are a number of external scholarships and bursaries available. Both directly from the university and colleges and various sponsoring organizations. You'll have to do some digging and research!
Each of these has it's own individual application, specific criteria, and unique deadline. Students may search online for these various scholarship in numerous ways including Maclean's Scholarship Finder and Student Awards.
List of External Scholarships to Research--Yes, Research! Application dates range from September to July. Be sure to check with each sponsor directly since processes and requirements for scholarships may have changed. Students are responsible to research each scholarship, be aware of the individual deadlines, and know the criteria for each. Counsellors and administrators will forward additional scholarship information via the Grad List serve. Please click on the link on the Scholarships page "Grad 2018 Email List Serve" to add your name and email to this list.

If you need a counsellor sponsor or assistance in preparing your application, please see the counsellors well in advance of award deadlines so they will have time to support you. If you are considering doing post-secondary, but feel limited by costs and need financial support, consider applying for the Education Awards from the Credit Union Foundation of BC. The next application period is January 1st to February 15th - see the link below or come to counselling board where there is current information. http://cufoundation.org/student-application/
LORAN Scholarship deadline: Oct 26th - direct pool, Oct 19th - open pool Deadline for application to direct pool is October 5, 2017 – send a brief email to Mr. Machado (firstname.lastname@example.org) and Ms. Malloff (email@example.com) explaining why you should be considered for the LORAN direct pool. The Loran Scholars Foundation identifies and supports young people who have the integrity and courage to make difficult decisions, the perseverance to work towards long-term goals, the curiosity to better understand the world around them and the drive to make positive change in their communities. There are 32 Loran Scholars each year from over 4,000 applicants. Our scholars come from all walks of life and every corner of Canada.
In partnership with 25 Canadian universities and our donors, we challenge our scholars to explore, develop and share their talents. Post-Secondary Awards Information All post-secondary Institutions offer entrance scholarships and bursaries. In order to qualify for an entrance scholarship from a post secondary institution you must have applied and plan on attending that post secondary institution in the fall. Students need to check university and/or college 'viewbooks' and websites for details. Applicants should make sure that they follow all instructions very carefully and meet all deadlines.
Junior Achievement BC (JABC) 2017 Award Junior Achievement British Columbia (JABC) high school participants across British Columbia may apply for the following awards & scholarships - click here http://british-columbia.jacan.org/awards. If you are unable to complete your application online, please contact JABC Marketing Manager, Annie Ko at firstname.lastname@example.org for a PDF application to be emailed to you or for a hard copy application by mail. Please specify which award or scholarship you are applying for.
Schulich Leadership Scholarship The Schulich Leader Scholarships program recognizes students across Canada who demonstrate excellence in academics and community leadership, and plan to study in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) areas at either of UBC’s campuses during their undergraduate degree. Schulich Leader Scholarships were created by Canadian business leader and philanthropist Seymour Schulich and is managed by the UJA Federation of Greater Toronto. Mr. Schulich is a noted entrepreneur and philanthropist, who believes strongly in supporting young people in their pursuit of science and technology. UBC Major Entrance Scholarship UBC is looking for the most accomplished and promising Canadian citizens and permanent residents to join our community. The Major Entrance Scholarship (MES) program offers the most prestigious awards available to entering students at UBC, including a one-time award of approximately $5,000 and renewable awards of up to $40,000 payable over four years. These scholarships recognize students who excel across the board and who have demonstrated academic and leadership achievements in the arts, community, athletics, and school. Deadline for application is December 10th.
Aboriginal Student Awards Program (RBC) How It Works Applications and supporting documents are to be received by RBC by 11:59 pm EST on February 28, of each year. If selected, the applicant must provide proof of her/his acceptance to university or college and eligible status by July 31. You will receive up to $4,000 per academic year for educational and living expenses for two to four years.
