The Yearbook Club will have its first meeting of the year today at lunch in the multipurpose room. Come out and help the team create a beautiful book for the 2018-19 school year! You'll be learning about photography, design, writing, and more. Come and check it out!
The first Debate Club meeting is being held today at lunch, in room 102. New members and all grades are welcome.
"Culture days" are being held today from 4 to 6 at the Hall street plaza. There will be many fun activities for all. Ambassadors and International student alike are encouraged to check it out!
There will be a Rotary Interact meeting tomorrow at lunch on in room 209. New members are welcome. Come and find out what community projects and fundraisers we will be planning this year.
A reminder to all Ab-ed students: if your pink 1701 paperwork is not back by Monday the lovely Tony and Jesse will begin phoning home to get it completed.
The Junior ladies Field Hockey team traveled to Pass Creek in Castlegar yesterday afternoon and came away with two 5 - 0 victories over Stanley Humphries and JL Crowe. Against Stanley Humphries Joy Valk had a hat trick while Elle Schlegel and Zoe Baxter scored singles. In the game against JL Crowe grade 8 - 9 squad Joy Valk and Elle Schlegel netted a pair each and Zoe Baxter had the single. Two good early contests to test the young squad, a real mix experience for the Bombers.
There is a field trip to Selkirk tomorrow in Period 3 for any students interested in the Selkirk College Trades Sampler program for Semester 2. Please meet in the Multi Purpose Room at 1 pm. Bussing there and back will be provided. See Ms. Malloff, Mr. Konken, or Ms. Wiltshire if you are interested.
Intercultural Ambassadors are invited to attend a free educational training with Dr. Kyra Garson on Interculturalization! She will be at school this Friday from 8:50 to 10:30am along with Ms. Naka's Math class. There are only 3 spots available so the first to confirm with Tanis will have the spots.
LVR Soccer Boys: you have practice today at the lakeside field from 3:45-5:15 pm. You need to be there in order to play in Vernon this Friday. Please see Mr. Morton today at lunch to ensure your spot for the Vernon trip this Friday. That's Mr. Morton, room 302, stop by for a minute to ensure that he has you on the list to play and all other necessary paper work that is required.
The "Haghum School of Witchcraft and Wizardry" invites students ages 11 - 17, to compete for "House Cup" on October 27th. You will learn wand-working skills, solve a mystery quest, eat delicious food and, of course, play quidditch! Visit taghumhall.ca to register and for more information. Tomorrow from 10:45 - 12:15 the medical practitioner will be here. She can diagnose regular medical conditions, write prescriptions or refills, has morning after pills or condoms, can provide referrals to specialists or provide mental health care. If you would like a confidential appointment you can see Robin in the counselling area.
Mandy from Freedom Quest will be here all day today. She proves such supports as drug and alcohol information and harm reductions strategies, emotional regulation techniques, grief and loss support, information on self awareness, self-esteem, empowerment and personal rights. Runners of all ages and abilities! The Cross Country season is underway. If you are interested in being part of the LVR team, practices are held everyday after school. Don't worry you don't need to make all the meetings. If interested, meet with Alex up on the soccer field, ready to run!
