Today in Canada, celebrations and ceremony are being held to honour the Moose Hide Campaign. The Moose Hide Campaign is a grassroots movement of Indigenous and non-Indigenous men and boys who are standing up against violence towards women and children.
Wearing a moose hide square signifies your commitment to honour, respect, and protect the women and children in your life and to work together to end violence against women and children.
If you are interested in learning more about the Moose Hide Campaign and wearing a square of Moose Hide to honour your commitment, drop by the Aboriginal Education room at some point today to talk with Jesse, Toni, and Ryan.
Do you want to learn leadership skills, connect with other youth, volunteer and have fun? Well then you should come to the Youth Action Team pizza party and info session on October 22nd from 4-6pm at the NDYC (608 Lake st). Tech Fair at the Nelson Public Library this Saturday! All ages are welcome to this free, drop-in event put on by Canada Learning Code's Code Mobiles. We will have different stations set up for you to explore, including computer games, stacking cups, Mozilla X-Ray Goggles, robots, Makey Makey, and more! Saturday, October 20 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The next book club meeting is on Friday October 26th at lunch in the library. We're discussing the first 100 or so pages of the dystonia novel "The Road". If you don't have your copy yet, come get one so you are prepared for some discussion.
Tomorrow students in Grades 11 and 12 are invited to attend Dr. David Burns' presentation in the gym, from 1 pm until 2:30. He will be speaking on Transforming Education in BC: Supporting and Preparing Learners for the Future.

There is a philosophy club meeting at lunch in room 102. We are discussing political philosophy this week, and fundamental ideas about society. The question this meeting is what gives governments the right to limit people's freedom? Everyone is welcome.
Next Monday our LVR boys will be hosting a Playday at Lakeside field from 10 am till 4 pm. There will be both Senior and Junior games, come on down and cheer them on!
